Moonrise Kingdom : Read All Critics Review Here

Moonrise Kingdom was the opening night gala at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it was deservedly met with widespread approval. This isn’t merely Anderson’s best film in 10 years; it’s his most Andersonian film in 10 years, and those two things are not unconnected.

Set during the summer of 1965 on an island off the coast of New England, “Moonrise Kingdom” tells the quirky tale of precocious young Khaki Scout Sam and forlorn Suzy who make a secret pact and run off together in the wilderness against the threat of an oncoming hurricane. This sets in motion an avalanche of frenzy on the island as the Scout troop, Suzy’s parents and the police chief search for the AWOL couple and battle the kids’ persistence to be in love.“Moonrise Kingdom” is currently Certified Fresh at 96 percent on the Tomatometer; here are some of the reviews:

Fresh: “‘Moonrise Kingdom’ is a deeply romantic film, perhaps the sweetest and most compassionate Anderson has ever made.” — Andrew O’Hehir, Salon.com

Fresh: “As in ‘Fantastic’ Mr. Fox, Anderson is able to express sincere personal connection and compatibility while employing a highly artificial style.” — Todd McCarthy, Hollywood Reporter

Fresh: “As funny, bittersweet and as distinct as you’d expect from Wes Anderson, a director who helps you know you are not alone.” — Nev Pierce, Empire Magazine

  1. I like how the critic delivers his message and it really is a fact.
